Each day, through the normal slips, jolts, bumps and twists that life throws at us, the vertebrae in our spine can become misaligned. When this occurs, the vertebrae can press on the nerves that exit the spine, causing a subluxation — interference to the communication of our nervous system.

When there are subluxations to the spine, you could experience pain, as well as problems that affect the muscles, internal organs, and your ability to move well. At Berardis Family Chiropractic we detect and correct these subluxations using adjustments that gently correct the alignment of the spine to restore normal function to the body.

Dr. Michael Berardis

Dr. Berardis (or Dr. Mike as his patients call him) was born in Yonkers and raised in Mahopac, NY. After graduating from Life Chiropractic College (Life University) in 1989 he immediately opened Berardis Family Chiropractic in Shrub Oak and has since been serving families in the surrounding area of Westchester, Putnam and lower Dutchess County.

Dr. Mike discovered Chiropractic as a young man after suffering with debilitating back pain. He also suffered from seasonal allergies for many years. Deeply impressed with his experience and finally relieved of pain, Dr. Mike went back to school to pursue a doctorate in Chiropractic so that he could help others just as he was helped.

I’ve been going to chiropractors my entire life — I’m 50 now, and I’ve been under chiropractic care since I was a little girl. In all those years, I have never experienced an office like this one. From the moment I walked in, I could feel it. The entire environment was full of joy, love, and compassion — not just from the doctor, but from every staff member and even the other patients. You feel cared for, heard, and seen from the very first visit. Dr. Berardis was incredibly thorough. He took his time examining every detail of my spine and flexibility, listened to everything going on with me, and put together a treatment plan to get my body back to functioning optimally. After just ONE adjustment, I left without the arm and shoulder pain I had been struggling with for months. I’m already doing things I haven’t been able to do in a long time — after a single visit. What sets this practice apart is that it’s truly Christ-centered. In all my years of chiropractic care, I’ve never found a doctor who believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to heal, whose approach is to clear the interference in the body and let God do what only He can do. So many chiropractic offices lean into New Age practices, so finding a practice immersed in the Word of God — run by a family that is genuinely on fire for the Lord — is a rare gift. I have been coming for treatment for several months now, for a pinched nerve and spinal misalignment. I started with adjustments and laser treatments - which were SO helpful. Overall I have seen vast improvements and increased flexibility and mobility again. Everyone is professional and welcoming here and instantly knows you by name. Dr. Berardis is very thorough after an exam and takes time to explain everything and answer questions. Since beginning my treatments with Dr. Berardis I have felt immense relief in my body overall. I initially went in for TMJ issues, but after doing scans there were other issues in my spine. Following the recommended protocol of laser, decompression, and adjustments I feel so much better! My almost daily headaches have virtually disappeared. Dr. Berardis has been treating me for poor spinal alignment and associated pain due to my scoliosis.  I’ve had weekly adjustments and decompression therapy and have seen a good deal of improvement in many areas including alignment, posture and pain reduction.  I spoke to Dr. Mike about the strong pain/discomfort in my lower back/hip area and he suggested laser treatment.  He explained it’s an accumulative process, but I felt relief after only 2 treatments, and have increased mobility.  I’m back enjoying gardening and other activities and feeling energized. My neck has been causing me so much pain and sleepless nights. Dr. Berardis was able to relieve my neck pain with a few adjustments. I slept well for the first time in weeks. I highly recommend him for anyone in pain or discomfort. Today,  3/20/26, I had the pleasure of having Dr. Susan adjust me. I explained to her that my upper mid back was causing me burning and pain and I didn't sleep well last night. She took time to listen to me and spent time working on that area in particular.
